Independent of yard and broker

Basis of instruction

Harbourpoint takes no commission from yards, brokers or repairers, and holds no interest in whether a sale completes or a claim is paid. That independence is the only reason a report is worth reading.

Insurers and brokers instruct Harbourpoint because the schedule of findings is coded and can be acted on without interpretation. Private owners instruct it for the same reason, usually before they sign.

How an instruction runs

Sequence

Four steps, and you are told at each one what has been found so far. Nothing waits for the written report if it is a code A.

1

Particulars

Vessel name, length, hull material, year, and where she lies. Fee quoted against those.

2

Attendance

Afloat, and out of the water where a haul-out is arranged. Moisture readings taken across the hull.

3

Verbal on the day

Anything that would be coded A is raised before leaving the vessel, not held back for the document.

4

Written report

Full document, photographic record, and the coded schedule of findings.

Vessel particulars

Instruction

Send the particulars and Capt. Rahim will come back with availability and a fee for that vessel.

Fees are quoted per vessel once particulars are received. They depend on length, hull material, location and whether a haul-out is arranged.
